The entire internet becomes more hilarious during american elections. I end up more interested in them that our own. The shit that is said is fucking hilarious, and terrifying of course.

It's not as funny knowing that it's happening in your own country, but as an American, you have to laugh or go insane.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

This is often the feeling I get as US elections approach...it's usually the rhetoric too, either from the nutjob neocon right or the nutjob not-so-right.

Agreed. I got quite obsessive over the last American election.

The Daily Show was never funnier than during the Republican primaries for the last presidential election.

Sure, it was funny - but the humor was tempered by the horror of the realization that one of those assclowns was guaranteed to get the nomination.

The last time I heard a person say wetback in real life was back in the 90's.
Everything I needed to know about life I learned on Dagobah.

I heard some people say it since then, but it was other hispanic people, using the term as satire.

Same here - though I'm guessing neither one of us makes a habit of hanging around knuckle-dragging racists.

Which, apparently, they should not do unless white people are allowed to use it non-satirically.

Quote: Then when questioned about it, he claimed using that specific term is as "normal as breathing air in South Texas." Speaking as someone who lives in South Texas, it's only common with ignorant white trash (which, unfortunately, does seem to be common when you get outside the urban areas).

Hey, a question to all you enlightened lefties. If poor and ignorant white people can be called trash, can I call the poor and ignorant of other races trash or is that a no-no? Popcorn

Quote: You should visit the panhandle. Ignorant white trash is pretty much all there is.

Entire region y is full of colour x trash? Can this formula be applied to other regions? If not, why not? :3
