I guess it's the difference between knowing that these things COULD be nothing more than mere psychology and having a detailed explanation of the psychological and physiological processes involved. In much the same way that my kids are of an age where they suspect I may be santa, but are willing to give me the benefit of the doubt to enjoy the illusion. If however they saw me loading presents into a sock, they'd have a much harder time doing that.

Why would having a detailed explanation of the physiological processes behind them reduce the quality of the feeling itself?

Let's take another example: You love your wife and your kids. But will knowing what chemicals are involved behind your love for them somehow diminish your love for them?

You're implying that the release of chemicals in your body has a bearing on whether or not your theism was really correct, which is a nonsense idea.

You could've simply thought "Maybe this god belief is all in my mind" without needing to understand it scientifically.

I believe that Allah is real ... which is the same thing as me believing that Allah is objectively real (in a metaphysical sense, not scientifically), whereas only the belief itself is subjective.

Why, do you believe that God is only "subjectively real"?
