The ego is its own fool.

Is that a windows message or an Internet explorer message?
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

You still using the public library computers? If so, their security policy may not allow it.

Okay so I click on download free
And a yellow sign with a ! mark in it shows up.

It says "Security Alert" your current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded. Now it's a matter of how I change the security settings. I know how to go to tools, internet options, security...and all that.

If you have a flash drive, and the library will let you, go to the library and have them help you download the firefox installation file; then just take that home and install it. An alternate method, again depending on library security settings, would be to download it at the library, and then email it to yourself as an attachment.

Here's a link:

Today, I got a message somewhere claiming that the recent head of the Mozilla Foundation is anti gay marriage and it seems some people are boycotting Firefox, just because of that.
I think it's stupid to start using a non-open-source browser when firefox exists and is as good as any other. Firefox is Open-source and that means you can trust it to not send your data to who-knows, for such code would be shunned by the community. I value my privacy over the political opinions of the head of the company that provides the tool to enjoy such privacy.... so allow me to be egotistical and proudly use firefox and advise others to do the same.

Are you seriously convinced there are no other open-source browsers out there?

RE: Socket puppets
Can you objectively prove Firefox is better?

Furthermore, the question was over the existence of viable alternatives. Not which one is better.

Finally, your argument about open source is a form a magical thinking. Just because it is open source doesn't mean it cannot send your data to a third-party. It simply means you can verify yourself. So I challenge you – read the Firefox source code. I know I can't, and I'm paid to do programming in C, Java, C++.

Open-source is no guarantee on the nonexistence of vulnerabilities, data leakage.
