Elder Scrolls Online
The pre-order release is coming up in a few days here! I've had mine pre-ordered for awhile now. Just curious if anyone else plans on playing this game on this forums. i have three friends who are for sure going to be playing, and I thought if there were a few more on this forums we could possibly create a guild to get a head start on the content. Anyway just a thought. I'll be playing a wood elf sorcerer or sneaky templar, not sure.

I've always been a huge fan of the ES series so I'm super excited for ESO. Anyone else??

I'm considering it. I'm a big fan of the Elder Scrolls series - and I used to play MMORPGs. If Bethesda can manage to create an MMO that feels more like Elder Scrolls, and less like running on a hamster wheel, I'd be interested.

Otherwise, not so much.

Uhh... I'm assuming this is only PC?

Console peasant here.
Mother Mercy, take my hand; guide me through this forsaken land. Father Time, return what's mine; the innocence you stole from these eyes. 'Cause I just feel numb...

I've watched angry joe's reviews on it, doesn't look too enthralling. Personally I think they're completely destroying the heart and soul of the elder scrolls by making it an MMO. What is the obsession in the games industry of making franchises into MMO's? Kotor? Now this? Next it will be Mass Effect. Facepalm

You know the answer to this already, Napo.

Debating it, to be homest.

I'm not a fan of online gaming (mostly because I can't afford the distraction), but I absolutely loved Skyrim.

See, that's part of the thing for me. Would Skyrim have been the same if everywhere you look in the frozen wasteland, all you see is a bunch of douchenozzles running around?

That's part of what drove me *from* another MMO (Lord of the Rings Online) back to single player RPGs (mostly Elder Scrolls - I still play Morrowind and Oblivion in addition to Skyrim).

It *really* is going to depend on how they implemented everything and what kind of content there's going to be. If it's done like damn near every other MMO out there with a ton of pointless questing (i.e. a lot of "go fetch me 200 schnobulators") and grinding (IOW, a WOW or LOTRO model) - no fucking thanks.

On the other hand, if I can explore Tamriel and do pretty much whatever the hell I want (like in TES3-5), I might be very interested. I'm just uninterested in getting on the grinding treadmill.

I'm also extremely sketchy about whatever their pricing model is. Sixty bucks to buy the game plus a monthly subscription fee? I could live with that, but don't you fucking do what LOTRO did - sell me the game + several expansions and charge me monthly for years, and then switch over to a free-to-play model where in order to enjoy content that I already paid for, I have to pay again - they made a good part of the content in the original game and expansions something that wasn't available after free-to-play without paying to unlock it. Even for those that had already paid for it. Fuck you, Turbine - you sucked all the life and fun out of LOTRO for me.

Yeah, I'm burned out on MMOs.

I recommend watching this guy's reviews, they're very in depth and basically tell you what you want to know:

He also does some elder scrolls online let's play.
