Almost all the women I know who were raped were raped by a boyfriend who got them drunk or talked them into it, or a family member. I've known many sexually abused women because I've been to many group homes, psyche wards and manners.

I've also known at least one who was raped at a party by more than one guy.

I do however get the hunch, from what I've observed, that women feel very self-conscious of their bodies and feel especially uncomfortable with people viewing what's between their legs. This can often be seen even by those who are quick to get topless.

I think DeistPaladin has a point. I'd like to add another theory: desensitizing. Women see their own breasts literally everyday, men see their own penis literally everyday. I think it gets pretty easy for the less prudish types to show them off because they're so used to seeing it themselves. But women need a mirror (or to be extremely flexible) in order to see their own genitals and, personally, I think that sight would take some getting used to.

EDIT: Basically, I don't think shame has that much to do with it.

I don't know why I was thinking about it but the other day it occurred to me that vaginas are little like ears. Not really of course but both vary a lot and are difficult to see directly. Personally I find them sculpturally very interesting.
