I don't think anyone does anything without question, but it may be in the interest of a corrupt group or individual to coerce obedience.

Belief through faith comes about through knowledge. You are correct that we cannot know objectively. Further we can never know.

I don't know, but they did. I wouldn't consider the comets gods, but that's because I consider a god something that you worship and revere. This is kind of along the lines of people telling me that the things I put before Jesus become my god. Obviously I don't worship my computer or my family or anything like that, though I suppose that's up to opinion.

One thing the comet worshipers never explain is how all of those various things originated on little comets instead of on the much larger and more dynamic Earth. Like gods, comets must have magical powers.
