I'm sure it's for a good reason. Christians are more concerned about eternity than about that stuff. It all comes out in the wash.
Ladies and gentlemen, here we have exhibit A for how christianity turns you into a callous, infantile monster.
I'd like to reply to this and all the other scathing remarks about the above post. All I hear on this forum is how irrational christians are. Now this was a very rational statement and I get it for being callous. Christians believe in eternal life. If I die as an infant and I meet someone in heaven who died at 100 years old, I'm not going to be upset because he got to live longer than me. We both have eternity. In fact, I might be grateful that I died fast instead of suffering a long and painful death. If my kids died now, I would be devastated because I love them I'd miss them. In fact, I'll be devastated whenever they die. But I'd be happy to know that they're in heaven and living a joyous existence. To a christian life on earth is important, but it's only a minute part of our total existence.
As far as why God kills babies, all I said was my true thoughts. It's for the same reason he kills adults. Before mankind's sin, there was no death and afterwards there was death. Like I said, we don't know the mind of God. We're not allowed to murder and in fact we're commanded to love and care for our neighbors and even our enemies. We are to leave justice and vengeance to God and go on loving just as Jesus demonstrated.

The only problem is that you can't prove it's just a minute part of existence. The idea that god does what he does, and we should just let him be in charge has caused people to die of treatable illnesses because the parents tried to pray the demon of illness away, or whatever. You belittle this existence because you think you have an eternity somewhere else, but there's no way to know that.
You can't prove there's an afterlife at all, much less your version of it. The bible just makes claims. It doesn't even prove Egypt exists, much less heaven. You need to prve something else exists before you can claim this life doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

Having internally consistent beliefs doesn't make them rational, and the problem that we have with your statement is the fact that defending infant genocide isn't a red flag for you that something may be wrong with your beliefs. No, it's just "Well, god gets to do what he wants" without a moment's pause that perhaps your beliefs are a barbaric relic of history. That is what is truly terrifying.

No, we don't know the mind of god, but if we are to evaluate the validity of your beliefs, we have to judge the behavior of your deity. We have to ask ourselves if we think this is the type of behavior an omniscient, omnipotent being would partake in. What's a shame is that you feel the need to leave your rationality at the door in order to maintain your security blanket.

I don't know, Chad. Maybe it has something to do with the smug self-righteousness of theists? Oh, and the fact that you keep coming here with your jesus shit. What do you think?

In the same sentence, immediately before I said that this life is just a minute part of existence, I also said that this life is important. I'm just putting it into perspective as a portion of eternity. Also, the bible never told us not to seek treatment for our injuries, illnesses, etc., and christians do seek medical solutions to these things. You can always point to anecdotal instances of misguided people concerning any issue. As far as proof for God's existence, we have our proof in the testimony of the scriptures and live as if there is a God. Since there is no scientific proof that he exists, you live as if there is no God. I guess if I found proof that convinced me that he doesn't exist, then I'd stop believing.

Yes, science is the best way we currently have to obtain truth, and without it I don't believe in something.
Do you have proof that the other gods and mythological creatures don't exist? I don't feel the need to prove everything I don't think exists, doesn't exist.

I can't believe you are honestly asking this question.
If you can't understand that the god described in your Bible is monstrous yet Christians worship him and we think you are not right in the head for doing so, then you haven't been listening.
We care because, as demonstrated in this thread, it makes Christians say and do horrible things.

Wrong again. Many here are anti-theists as well as atheists.

Do you need proof that Vishnu does not exist? Zeus? Odin? Mithras?

After a few weeks off I return to a place where the atheist have become more vile in their ways toward Christians. Hatred breeds hatred and I see it in action here, so you want proof of things here it is and if you do not believe this then you are truly blind.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

That's ironic, coming from a hate-peddler.
