Possibly an Atheist's Thought?

Where did the time go, the years, the decades? This world can be so disappointing and difficult, then when that fateful day comes, that's it. I mean, that's the end, no more me, gone forever. Into the ground I go, no more life, just a memory. In a couple of generations I probably won't even be remembered. Its kinda sad.

But what if there really is a God? What if indeed when I die I have consciousness? What if I see God? What if I am wrong? What if God exists?

Even if you feel you are 99.99% sure there is no God, are you willing to risk your eternal destiny if that .01% chance it may be true?

And what if there's an Odin, or Zeus, or Quetzacoatl?

You might be wrong, so you have to worship all of those gods to cover your bases.

Only the stupid and weak minded fall for Pascal's Wager.

Seriously: give up the bullshit.

Revelation, so basically your original post is a caricature of a weak willed and whiny individual, who's life is so pathetic, that he's on the verge of believing in fairy tales to make him feel better because he can't deal with life and wants to take refuge with a comfort blanket in the existential storm? That's definitely not me, sounds more like a religious person. I'm strong enough to handle my own mortality, thank you very much. I find it rather insulting you implied otherwise.

You could tase him, but it doesn't say you tased him in the bible, so he probably won't believe it happened. No amount of tasing will bring some electrical activity into his brain. If we are really talking about pascal's wager, we have ceased having an intellectual discussion. No one, not even most apologists will accept that terrible argument. Even if successful, it doesn't prove anything. It's meaningless if there really isn't a god, or there are very good arguments against the existence of god which make god's existence logically impossible.

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

You seem perfectly willing to ignore the chance that God may prefer Muslims, or Brahma is the deity who actually created the universe.

That was a pretty big build-up for Pascal's Wager. Here's a link to criticisms of it (there are a lot):

I wonder why all the arguments for God are bad ones?

And with tens of thousands of gods to choose from, the odds that you happened to pick the wrong one are very, very high.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

Hmm. You're right. Maybe that dream I had about Apollo proved that he's real. Then there's that experience I had the other day where it felt like the planet is a goddess. I think I'd better play doubly safe by worshipping both Gaia and Apollo. After all, I'd like to go to Elysium when I die if that place exists.

Congratulations. You succeed in converting me to a religion. I'm now a Neo Pagan. TongueTongue
