Atheist Utopia

Atheist Utopia
Here's just a flight of fancy. Suppose there was an atheist "See the truth" ray and everybody forgot about religion overnight ...what sort of society would we like to see set up? I can foresee it should be a fairer sort of society all round , but I can already envisage that it wouldn't be one size fits all.....for instance Vegetarians and Vegans might want to set up independent states so they can live the way they want without imposing their eating habits on others....anybody else got any thoughts?

Hookers and blow?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

No religion just means less baggage and certainly does not imply consensus regarding all the other negotiations required to coexist. How much more efficient the other negotiations become without dragging religion along is something that can only be dreamt about.

It would be a nice dream though wouldn't it?

People will still believe in irrational stuff. They will still listen to people who claim to have all the answers. They will follow something that gives them hope, despite the evidence contradicting it. As a human it is very difficult to be totally rational as sadly we are limited by our imperfect brains.

It'd take a really big, really heavily armed vegan/vegetarian to impose their lifestyle on me, utopia or not. Just saying.

Juicy steaks could still become a thing of the past, though. Tongue From the Columbia University Press - The Insect Cookbook

Quote:The Definitive Guide to Insects as a Sustainable Food Source

In The Insect Cookbook, two entomologists and a chef make the case for insects as a sustainable source of protein for humans and a necessary part of our future diet. They provide consumers and chefs with the essential facts about insects for culinary use, with recipes simple enough to make at home yet boasting the international flair of the world’s most chic dishes.

The Insect Cookbook features delicious recipes and interviews with top chefs, insect farmers, political figures, and nutrition experts, including chef René Redzepi, whose establishment was elected three times as “best restaurant of the world”; Kofi Annan, former secretary-general of the United Nations; and Daniella Martin of Girl Meets Bug. The book contains all you need to know about cooking with insects, where to buy them, which ones are edible, and how to store and prepare them at home and in commercial spaces.

I think my ideal society would be more focused on social, educational and non-religion-related political reforms than religious-political ones. If we could just have a political system where religion wasn't allowed to try and manipulate the system for the advantage of the religious or the advantage of a particular subset of the religious, then I'd consider us rather well off in this area.
