Life after death?

Sure there will continue to be some life after my death. It's just that the brain function I'm fond of calling me, won't be part of it, though the atoms that make up me, undoubtedly will be.

What crap do you give? Are you among those that want statues of themselves built and their name marked on it in memory of their great, whateverish achievements?

WTF does anything I might want after my death have to do with what I just said?

Also, like I said before with the thalamus, your sense of being you during the day is a high, and sleep is the low. Sleep prepares you for the high. We see this with Fatal Familial Insomnia patients, after 4 months of no sleep, some no longer believe they exist, some say they're already dead.

So. However strong your sense of self is or isn't during any particular part of life, when your brain ceases to function there's no longer any self----- not a weak self, not a strong self, not a deluded self that thinks it's dead, nothing. We call that state of no brain function death. There is no life after it. It's over.

I don't spend time worrying about what death will be like, because it won't be an experience.


------- I might add I find you deliberately obtuse. I'm no expert on neurology, but I enjoy popular books on the subject by Oliver Sacks, V.S. Ramachandran and others. The mind is a strange place and it's far from as straight forward as we like to think it is. It might even be interesting to discuss it with you. But I really fail to what how our brain works and how it constructs a sense of self has anything to do with whether there is an after life.
