So, it's closing in on the 4 year mark. I keep thinking I can move on, I keep thinking time heals all wounds . . . but what I am learning is it only covers the wounds with dust, still there . . . just hidden from the surface.
Out of the blue the other day I thought of you. You in your silly pink Pj's, me holding you in my arms. I felt invincible back then. Lean, mean, and green 11B10 Infantry soldier. Battle tested, and combat hardened. Never thought the toughest thing I'd face would be coming home to losing you.
I remember falling to the ground that day in the rain. Like a bullet through my chest.
I wonder, would you have been daddy's lil girl? Is pink still your color? Would you be into dolls or trains? Would you have had my talents? Or your mother sinister side?
I miss you, it's been almost 4 years now . . . .
Not a day goes by that I don't think of you
