Only if this game is true to what the previous ones were all about will they restore (some of) my faith in them. They're still moneygrabbing, self-serving bastards. I can just see exactly what will happen with this game though, they'll be releasing maps and character classes as DLC, new weapons as DLC, new vehicles as DLC, this game is set up to be an EA DLC orgy.

I'm almost certain it will be similar to battlefields premium set up, you pay an extra £50 and get the bimonthly DLC with new vehicles, maps and weapons. Good thing with dice as developers is they are really switched on to balancing so pay to win shouldn't be an issue.

Personally I like how that system works, it's better than microtransactions or shoving too much out at once. So long as the game doesn't come out with barely any content to begin with DLC is a great way to do it in my opinion.

Thanks OP, you already got me addicted
Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you

I'm not really convinced, I despise the idea of paying for DLC before it's even came out. You can't be sure you know how much you're buying, what you're buying, whether it's worth it. That's just wrong IMO. I absolutely hate the way COD and Battlefield do DLC. This whole idea of 'premium' content is ruining gaming. Like you allude to, it gives the devs an excuse to put less content in the actual game. I can just see them giving you less classes, less weapons, less maps, and they'll release shit that should have already been in the game as DLC.

There's a reason so many memes like this exist:

So here's why I like it:

First you do actually know what it is. They are bimonthly packs with 4 maps, 2-4 new weapons and maybe a new vehicle or two. You also get 2 week early access to the maps and a hand full of bonus things like camo's and stuff like that.CoD was different I think in that they didn't tell you anything at all which was really shitty.

I don't believe peoples claims that they essentially put less content in to sell it as DLC is true at all. Maybe in some games but I haven't seen many game like that at all. If you didn't have DLC you would get the same game you get now but never see any new maps, weapons or anything else. With China Rising for example, if it weren't for DLC that would never have made it. Those maps were built when final tweaks, production and shipping was being done. They just wouldn't have been able to bolt it on in time with testing and bug fixing. Without DLC games would just stagnate as vanilla. I've not seen anything to convince me at all that this has even changed from how it used to be.

The great thing I think about DLC maps and extras is that every couple of months the game gets something new and exiting. If you play a lot of the game it doesn't take long to get tired of the same old maps. Inevitably everyone ends up on the same 3-4 favorite maps using the best 4-5 weapons. With regular DLC it reinvigorates the game every couple of months. You have new maps to learn, new weapons to unlock and try out. That keeps the community interested and active.

The thing with a premium type deal is that its optional too. You do get perks of having it but you can also pick and choose your DLC if you aren't interested. For me I knew I would play the DLC and want to try out new weapons, Battlefield being my go to game. I'd do the same with Battlefront. Its great for fans of a game that know they are most likely going to pay for the maps anyway, you get a discount over the overall cost of the DLC and more often than not lots of extras. I see it as a win win. They get money up front, I pay less on DLC in the end and to have all those things in game I'm certainly interested in having. Its not for everyone but thats why its optional and you can pay for individual DLC.

Its fucking ridiculous to think they won't charge for something like premium or DLC. I really don't think its at all overpriced even when you look at the average prices you get on other games for DLC.

I think the worst think EA did involving BF4 is pushing out the core game before it was ready. I don't think the core game lacked content and I don't think premium is wrong at all. I see it as DLC done right honestly.
