I might join, but when is the draft?; that aspect looks participatory. I'd feel bad if I missed it.

My league is just set for automatic draft (or whatever it's called). I don't follow the "big four" sports, but I love Yahoo! Fantasy anyhow, so I made a league (with some probably rather bizarre scoring!) with an autodraft.

Invited if you like.

"rather bizarre scoring" - I don't know what you've done, but I just had a[n] (awesome, terrible) idea (pick one) for alternate scoring -

The idea would not be to pick the standouts - rather, you'd want to pick the worst sad sack players who actually get play time. Instead of quarterbacks getting points for points scored, yards thrown, and the like, they'd score points for losing fumbles, being intercepted, being sacked... Defense scores points by allowing allowing the other team to run up the score and rack up massive yards... you get the idea. Whomever's lineup makes the most mistakes, wins!

Yeah, it's probably a terrible idea - but it could be fun.

Lol, yeah, I think I've actually seen that as an alternate preset system on Yahoo. Not sure.

For me, I'm puzzled that football is even called football. TDs are when you run the ball or catch it in the endzone, and are worth 6 points, with the privelege of a try for an extra point. A single extra point.

Kind of takes the foot out of football, in a sense. On a conlanging (constructed languagebuilding) board I belong to, we ponder other cultural things besides language as well. Somebody started a sports thread. As in, what would be the national sport of your constructed country? I have proposed something similar to NFL football, but TDs would just be one point, and give you that same priviledge to kick for extra points, but in this case, nine points would be available for this extra try. So, 1 (for the TD) + 9 (for the extra try from, say, 20 yards) = 10.

Not sure that my Yahoo league really follows that, because there are deductions for various mistakes, such as allowing large amounts of points, but in theory, I like my rules of football as above better than the NFL.

Looks like I failed to adjust the setting for publishing. Now, it's done (or so I think).

Because when the game first started, it was practically indistinguishable from the game that became association football (soccer in the U.S.). The game changed significantly, the name didn't.

By all means!
