All of a sudden, it leapt at me and =poof!= I was awake. For all I knew, I'd simply awakened with a start and nothing else. Then I noticed my older sister standing at the side of the bed with a terrified expression on her face, and my parents rushing into the room in full "WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED" mode.
Turns out that just as my dream was ending, my sister had placed her hand on my chest to wake me for school. When she did this, I let out a loud, long, wild shriek that probably sounded like someone had stepped on a banshee's tail. For whatever reason, I was utterly unaware of having done it, but it livened up the morning for everyone else.

Considering the dreams I've had of late, no way would I call dreaming a curse.

That sounds like it would be incredibly dysphoric.
Probably really difficult to pretend enjoying that... mind, I'm all about the last bit (feeding them a baby, esp during sex)... it's that first part that I just can't get past.

Dreams can give you insight on your inner status.
I remember those dreams of flying when I was a kid, awesome.
The scary ones were a signal of hidden fears that needed to be dealt with.
You ask,"Why.......dreams"?
I suspect they are both for an early warning system and to cause us to have a sense of awe and wonder at ourselves.
We are fearfully and wonderfully made.
Where did I hear that before?
