You know what really grinds my gears?: The moaning thread.
RE: You know what really grinds my gears?: The moaning thread.
Yeah, teasing is intolerance. In a world where pretending like you just feel okay and cover up whatever you're feeling is a value, I can't stand it. Everyone wants everyone else to just put on the most optimistic face. It's gone to such a degree that now whenever someone is upset and expresses anger and frustration they're labeled the new columbine shooter or emo. It's so frustrating, I have no respect for anyone who will ever stoop to that low a level of thought. It makes me sick and I feel like my face is falling off from all the days of such intense stress.

In the middle east you would have been treated like leper. Just saying

I have a lot of respect for the columbine shooters though. They stood up to the people who made fun of them and disrespected them in a way I never would. All I can do is glare at people, flick them off, tell them to go kill themselves. They had guts, and I think it reflects on the society we live in more than the people who committed the crime itself.

They can make a big glass crater out of the fucking middle east for all I care. I dunno who leper is anyways.

Who cares what most people think. Homophobia, racism and real full fledged intolerance are reasons for why I don't

People in this thread express the same amount of intolerance as anyone else I have met on the street. Telling me I'm a baby, telling me I'm emo, etc. I see it all. It hurts to see it, because it makes me hate this society we live in the more people do it. I hate people who do this, and it never changes. Living in this world feels like a war to me. It's just a constant struggle to get your way over the self centered, ignorant, intolerant masses of people. I can't stand living in this society. Not a single person on this planet is out for anyone else but themselves, and they step on anyone else who gets in their way. I hate people, and I will ignore anyone on this forum who doesn't show me the respect and understanding I deserve.

But they also killed themselves in the end. Did they actually shoot every single person who made fun of them, or even any of them? Did they really settle any scores? Did they ruin the lives of only the people who made them miserable, or did they simply make a lot of otherwise innocent people suffer?

Think about their timelines: they lived short lives that were apparently full of angst and bitterness, they took extreme action that may have filled them with satisfaction and power for a very short interval, which they themselves cut short, ending their existence. It's really not much of a life. Most folks go through the angst and difficulties of adolescence; most overcome it, grow up, and build satisfying lives for themselves. I think they're much more deserving of respect.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

What deserves respect?

Can I start a thread about this question?

You deserve any of those?

You want people to understand you and yet... provide no basis for such understanding... or, rather, provide a basis for the understanding you don't want.

You want people to respect you and yet... you don't respect people. Your post that started this whole thing was one where you showed us all that you don't respect your teacher.
Why should I respect someone who doesn't respect teachers?

Yeah, they got back at everyone. They made a statement, that if you fuck with someone, something will happen. I'm sure the ones who disrespected them didn't go around and joke about them after they did what they did. I respect them more than the people who disrespected them. I think it shows what kind of society we live in where people think they can get away with disrespecting someone else. The columbine shooters did what few people are willing to do, which is defend their honor as human being. Hats off to them. They obviously didn't want to live in this world anymore anyways.

I don't respect my teacher? My teacher makes me angry. He knows i have trouble focusing and yet he treats it like it's not his problem when he is responsible for teaching me because that is what I am paying him to do.
