As far as I'm concerned, the only thing Deep Thoughts lead to is Jack Handy.

Does Deep Thought Lead to God? Here's a Shallow Answer
|
I may be wrong here, but it almost stands to reason that deep thought kind of leads away from god, not towards him. Religion does not allow for free thinking, conformity does not allow for personal freedom.

I'm a former christian, and when I told a pastor that I rejected his 'authority' over me he asked... "Well then who decides who has authority over you... YOU?" To which I replied "Yes." And religion encourages more thinking than ontological naturalism. (September 10, 2014 at 11:34 am)ShaMan Wrote: I agree. I'm a former christian...I disagree as a former atheist. While there is no doctrine for atheism, it's usually arrived at through critical thinking. As for any religion, it does encourage thinking. Just not free thinking.
ChadWooters, I know nothing about ontological naturalism so I have no words on that. But how does religion encourage free thinking, considering it requires you to conform to their beliefs above all else and to the exclusion of others?
You're free to think whatever some preachy asshole tells you. It's very complicated.
