As someone who has a very strong beard, and sensitive skin, I faced a dilemma, once.
I could only use the standard triple blade disposable razor twice a week, or else irritation would sprout.
But the wife (girlfriend, at the time) wasn't very keen in having her face poked by my needles every two days.
So, she found a way: electric shaver. got me a Braun for Christmas which had to be replaced some 2 or 3 years ago... and it was replaced by another Braun.
The philips ones are more expensive, the replacement blades are more expensive and look flimsier, but they do make less noise.
Still, my beard is so wild, I have to spend some 15 minutes scraping it off in every direction... and there are always some missing.
Not as close a shave as with a razor, but close enough and I can do it everyday without damaging the skin - the wife wins, I keep the clean look... it "just" costs me 15 minutes every single day!
Miss one day and risk damaging the razor net thing and then have to buy another one... might as well do it every day.
