Football and Jesus

RE: Football and Jesus
Quote:“We cannot just stand idly by as Christian values and morals are trampled,” said Jack Burkman, the GOP lobbyist working to keep Sam out of the NFL. “We will do whatever we can to preserve family values in this country.”
I wonder if he was standing in front of his Michael Irvin poster when he said that?
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Who cares if he's gay? I mean really. He's a wall of meat there to get and give concussions.

Yeah, but did you know that you can spread AIDS through concussions?

As a Xian, I could not agree more.

I believe that if one looks at the Bible closely, homosexuality is considered a sin... along with idolatry**, premarital sex, gossip (did you hear about what Sarah did? We need to pray for her because she...) and so on. It's mentioned in the NT, otherwise you could say it's a sin in the same catogory of eating pork (which most Christians do!)

I think they enjoy demonizing other people for special "extra-bad" sins because it points attention away from their own problems. It's not right, but sadly they do it anyway.

** Does setting special time aside for football, reading about it on the internet, posting about it on FB, wearing certain clothes because of football, and going through certain sets of "game day" rituals count as "worshipping" football? That's more time/effort than a lot of them spend on their "faith."

Oh, and I loved that "Babble belt" term. I hadn't heard it before!

So Dallas got beat which I imagine would naturally have the jesus freaks claiming that "god" taught them a lesson!

Except.

They got beat by San Francisco. And everyone knows about San Francisco.
