1. Yes, but of course, since what we call love is a chemical reaction in the brain, love becomes subjective to each person. Some people have all the love to give in the world, some people have no chemical signals for love going on in their brain and the rest of us are somewhere on the spectrum.
2. Yes, more so when I was younger as I had way more friends in high school. But, I think without some form of love in my life it wouldn't be worth it, whether it be a love for a hobby, love for an object, or more importantly love for other people and animals that are capable of loving you back.

If the hypothetical idea of an afterlife means more to you than the objectively true reality we all share, then you deserve no respect.

3. It's a particular blend of three types of chemical neurotransmitter that generates a physiological reaction in the body
As the Beatles sang,
'She blends her particular types of neurotransmitter and generates a physiological reaction in the body you, yeah, yeah, yeah.'
Classic.

"I think I use the term “radical” rather loosely, just for emphasis. If you describe yourself as “atheist,” some people will say, “Don’t you mean ‘agnostic’?” I have to reply that I really do mean atheist, I really do not believe that there is a god; in fact, I am convinced that there is not a god (a subtle difference). I see not a shred of evidence to suggest that there is one ... etc., etc. It’s easier to say that I am a radical atheist, just to signal that I really mean it, have thought about it a great deal, and that it’s an opinion I hold seriously." - Douglas Adams (and I echo the sentiment)

Despite most people here saying love is a subjective experience I'll have to disagree - You see, the experience by itself is subjective, but there seem to be some common objective patterns between people who are in love, and don't come tell me there aren't - Didn't you ever observe one of your friend's reactions while next to a significant other and concluded my friend seems to be in love with her/him? Well this means there is probably some objectivity at least on the definition of love, you can feel it differently, some people feel it more, others less, but there's definitely some common objective ground.

An attachment provoked by chemical reactions that makes you feel better on the presence/contact with a specific person. CapnAwesome and FatAndFaithless also put very good definitions

I remember my girlfriend's best friend had placed bets on whether my girlfriend and I would get together, and her reaction upon hearing that we were dating was very palpable.

'Cause no mystical energy field controls *my* destiny. It's all a lot of simple tricks and nonsense.

Put another way, love is feeling the same way about someone when you're no longer horny.
