I intend to take a shit every day, but I'm not making announcements of it. It's redundant and no one really cares. 

In the same way, the thread is for those actually taking the break, not "intending" to take the break. When you constantly post what your "intentions" are, and they are the same thing, it gets rather redundant. 

I know you don't like criticism but sometimes people just have to speak up and let you know what they are thinking. Please know that we aren't trying to be mean, but rather help guide you in a social situation because you may not be aware of the uncomfortable-ness or the awkwardness of the situation.

I reckon if I say something about taking a break I need to follow through on it or I'll look a little silly. Taking time off in October I did mention it, and I did so precisely because I had to stop coming here and that was a good way of ensuring it. Every other time I've dropped out of a forum, it's been just quietly going away, and that'll be the case going forward if and when I take another bit off.

But others handle these things differently, and what does that matter? It doesn't affect me in the least. Hammy's a good guy and these "I'm leaving" posts do no harm to me at all.

How did I attribute a single thing to you at all? I should think it clear that when I typed "Hammy's a good guy" I was expressing my opinion. Did I quote your post? Did I make any reference to your opinion at all? No, I didn't. What makes you think I was replying to you specifically?

Going forward, if I'm responding to you, I'll be very clear about it so that we don't have this sort of misunderstanding again, okay?

Because it followed mine nearly ten hours later and if you were replying to someone else's post, you would have quoted that post. Naturally, I figured you were responding to mine. Sorry about that. I'll try to be a better judge of posts in the future.
