Otherwise, it's been a nice year and a half. This forum really is a time suck, it's probably for the best that I won't use it anymore if it gets to that .

Excited Penguin, I wanted to thank you for posting in the First Contact thread: your post was well-written, intelligent, and creative.  I also valued your participation in my 'ask a' thread.

In addition, can I say, and I'm just being honest, I think that you are an idealistic, intelligent, kind, and peaceful man.  Those traits are very rare, and in my experience, it is easy to feel isolated; as an idealist, I've been there plenty of times, so please remember that you are not alone: there are people out there who actually 'care' like you.  Well, take care of yourself, sir.  Live long and prosper.

There's no reason to suck up to people -regardless- of whether or not they hate you.  You might find, EP, that there's a relationship between the amount of attention and approval seeking behavior one engages in, and ones relative happiness or QOL.  Be it here on the boards, or elsewhere in life.  Good luck to you wherever that is.

Yes, because saying goodbye to people in case you get banned is exactly what sucking up is.

I did what I did perfectly aware that while it wasn't technically wrong, it might ruffle a few feathers. My current disposition given to kindness has nothing to do with that and is as genuine as you'll ever find.
