Because they feel like it. Are we not allowed to use the forum? That’s rhetorical. We definitely are, and there are about six other staff members who haven’t commented. The “whole” team definitely didn’t comment.

@CL, I’ve been where you are up until yesterday. I’ve talked to Stimbo for years. I’ve put up with horrible things he’s said when he’s been drunk and depressed and told myself he’s still a good guy and it’s not his fault because of what he’s been through. But the truth is, it is his fault. We’ve all been through horrible experiences. Everyone has a history. But people are still responsible for their own actions. Good people don’t chat up rape victims to let them know they’re going to go out and rape someone. Good people don’t threaten rape no matter how drunk or depressed they are. Good people don’t use their friends as virtual punching bags when they’re down. Do I wish ill upon him? Absolutely not. I truly hope that somehow he gets a wake up call and gets the professional help he so obviously needs. But there is no excuse for his behavior. No amount of context could make it okay.

I think it's all the culmination of drunkenness, severe depression, loneliness, loss of a life partner/prospects of a family that made him say that. Hopefully he never actually thought of harming anyone, and I suspect he hasn't. I know it's no excuse to have said what he said. I'm just explaining why he may have been in a state where he said something so awful that he didn't mean.
