That would explain the need for all the samples.

Remember I'm just the one fantasizing about an alien. I don't actually speak any. Can you say that in a non-alien tongue?

I speak alien. Here's part of an old Venusian lullaby, as sung by the third Doctor:
Klokleda partha menin klatch,
haroon haroon haroon,
Klokleda sheenah tierra natch,
haroon haroon haroon,
Haroon haroon haroon.
Loosely translated, the first line means "Close your eyes, my darling ... well, three of them, at least."
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

The 80s gave us Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy, Bonnie Langford and all the worst excesses of John Nathan-Turner and Andrew Cartmel. I don't blame you.
