It appears after 2003 invasion of Iraq, Bush administration covered up the discovery of chemical weapon facilities in Iraq that was abondoned in 1991 because stories of abandoned weapon facilities contradicted Bush administration's bogus jusification of war.

As a result, data of chemical stockpiles in those facilities were not shared with occupation troops. So some unaware troops were accidentally exposed, given inadaqaute treatment, and told to never talk about it. Worse, since the facilities and stockpiles were not disclosed to relevent agencies and troops, they were not destroyed.

Once such stockpile recently fell into the hands of ISIS.

Contamination from depleted uranium (DU) munitions is causing sharp rises in congenital birth defects, cancer cases and other illnesses throughout much of Iraq, according to numerous Iraqi doctors.

Iraqi doctors and prominent scientists believe that DU contamination is also connected to the emergence of diseases that were not previously seen in Iraq, such as new illnesses in the kidney, lungs and liver, as well as total immune system collapse. DU contamination may also be connected to the steep rise in leukaemia, renal and anaemia cases, especially among children, being reported throughout many Iraqi governorates.

Not disputing something is going on, but it is my understanding DU symptoms would be more along the lines of heavy metal poisoning. Not sure they have demonstrated it's the DU, and not something else associated with the war.

Areas that Saddam gassed would certainly be suspect, and anywhere that hid a Scud would be too, as the fuels for that were nasty.
