2 timothy 3:16
All scripture is god breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking and training in righteousness.
You see Christians throw this one out a lot and I can't help but wonder, what scripture was the anonymous author referring to? The bible or scripture as we know it didn't exist until at least 200 years after the epistle was written, and there was and a lot of different gospels and Christian sects around at the time that are now heretical.

And all our yesterdays have lighted fools

Hi Lemon,
Obvious to me (being the writer's great familiarity with the the Old Testament) what was referred to is the script of that Covenant which would include the Hebrew Prophets.
In 2nd Peter 3:16, Pete, talking about Paul' writings, says "Speaking in them of these things; in which some things are hard to understand, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do of the other Scriptures, to their own destruction."
Scriptures can simply mean "Writings".
The important thing also seems to be WHO wrote the writings.

Indeed, the letter to Timothy was most likely a forgery and not a reliable source.

couple what the proff said with verse 10 to 16 and you will have your answer:

Thats on the surface, except that the tanakh is different from any of the Christian old testaments, of which there are three. Ask ronedee and vivalarevolution what the OT contains and you will get 2 different answers, both different from your own.

Which writer are you talking about? Not Paul, I hope. No one knows who wrote either of the two Timothies, as they were both attributed to Paul, but written by someone else. A few of the Epistles are disputed as to whether or not Paul wrote them, but among scholars, there is a consensus that he did not write 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, 2 Thessalonians, and Titus.
