McCain is fully white and his birth certificate was subpoenaed to challenge his eligibility to be president. McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone, although some demobirthers claimed he wasn't born in the canal zone but in Panama itself. If you changed the circumstances so Obama was a republican...the whack jobs on the left would have had their own birther movement. The reason Obama's birth was challenged was because circumstances surrounding is birth and publications about him before he became a well known public figure presented an opportunity to be challenged and members of the opposition took it.

Obama's birth certificate was challenged not because he is black. Such a notion is silly. He was challenged on this issue because certain elements of his opposition would do everything in their power to challenge his credibility to be president. If circumstances were exactly the same except Obama was white, the birther movement would still have occurred with substantially the same vigor.

And yet McCain ran against Obama the very same year Obama's certificate was questioned. Cover your steps why don't ya, let's question both of the candidates so that it APPEARS as though we're being fair.

It's not hard to see that the McCain "birthers" came out right after the Obama "birthers".

The McCain birther movement gained traction the moment he was nominated...same as Obama's. McCain's birth certificate was produced much earlier than Obama's and McCain was not elected like Obama was so the Obama birther lasted much longer. Also there were promtional booklets published by the publishers of Obama's first book that claimed Obama was born in Kenya....which just added fuel to the birther movement against him.

So what? If I agreed with you, which I do not. Then my argument would be that it is not fast enough. The charts have been clear over the past 30 years that the difference between the top and bottom has exploded and wages ratio wise have not kept pace with the top. The ratio you are advocating is still an untenable gap.

India and China in this context is an issue of boarders and economic model not race. You made that assumption.

If the Dems are so great ( I vote mostly for the Dems) why this shift of power? There are a lot of reasons. There is a seesaw back and forth, The dems have power , then the Republicans, then Dems, you get the picture. Take heart you liberals in a few more elections the Dems will take over again, however if the Republicans do well in the next few years they might even take the White House, that's a bit scary if they end up with House, Senate and White House.
