Slightly confused.

I don't follow any books, fanfics, etc outside the movies...
But doesn't this take place after Return of the Jedi? If so, I thought the Empire was pretty much dismantled after the events of that, no?

Yes it's following on from VI (some time after you have to assume because of the age of the old actors).

I've never read any of the books but I've played a lot of the 'post Return of the Jedi' games and basically there are remnants of the Empire still kicking around because it was so massive, not even the destruction of the Death Star and the Emperor could eliminate it completely, although in the books

Not really sure what the story is in this but there's obviously a Sith and some storm troopers on what looks like Tatooine.

So.... we'll see... a year from now!
Nice lightsaber!
First they had one beam.... then there was a guy with 2.... now 3... and.... multiple!
Why not make it move like a chainsaw?

I only enjoy Star Wars when I don't think.

Plinkett Reaction:

Arguably the best thing about the new star wars films will be the inevitable panning in the "much better than the film, reviews" done on RLM.

Love seeing x-wings again.
Love the flight of the Millennium Falcon
Haven't made up my mind about the lightsabre, though someone mentioned that perhaps having crossguards is an indication of lessons learned from Anakin, Luke, and others losing their hands.
Still wondering about that stupid fucking robot.
