Three days after Ray Rice won his appeal and was reinstated to the NFL on Friday, an emotional interview with his wife Janay Rice aired on NBC's "Today Show" on Monday morning.
With tears in her eyes and her mother beside her, Janay relived the painful February incident, in which her then-fiancée knocked her out with a punch inside a hotel elevator, and its painful aftermath, which she described as "a horrible nightmare." She feels like she and her husband were "chosen" to bring awareness on domestic violence and that's something that they're at peace with.
"I feel like God chose me and Ray for a reason and it was definitely to bring awareness to what people are going through every day," Janay told NBC's Matt Lauer. "You know it’s not what I am going through every day but you know it’s definitely brought this topic to the forefront...and we are okay with that."
Janay might want to consider hiring out as a Mormon apologist, she certainly has a gift that otherwise will go to waste.

She should be happy, he didn't stone her. Knocking her out seems in perfect accordance with husband/wife relationship in the old book.

She's definitely in a unique position-- she might actually have more concussions than her football-player husband.

what's to understand? for a 4 million dollar pay check I would be willing to be knocked out in an elevator a couple times a year myself.

Ah but she could divorce him and sue him for a substantial portion of that now and have the money without future concussions.
Besides, I've seen a number of women with poor husbands behave the same way. I really don't get it.

Yeah, I know my share too. And to tell the truth, I have a very hard time to still respect them. I know it's unfair, since it's a psychological condition, but human reason takes the back door when they show up again with bruises and blame them on their own behaviour.
