So nothing that would qualify you to speak, professionally, about evolution. Please at least have made an amateur study of biology & chemistry otherwise I'm really at a loss to understand how you would be able to refute what is arguably the most evidenced theory in biology.

So what qualifies you to speak for it (evolution)? Are you a biologist?

Furthermore based on your logic, what qualifies you to speak against Christianity, when you are clearly not one? First get to know about the rich Christian theology before making anti-Christian comments.

And lastly, what is this common conviction in the Atheist community that anyone who does not prescribe to your system of belief is either a troll or a poe? This clearly shows your lack of confidence and security in your own belief. When a Christian manages to beat you at our own games, you suddenly declare him/her an "Atheist in a Christan cloak", thus taking comfort in your own delusions that there are no real Christians. I have seen this habit on many online forums, blogs and chats and this thread is no exception, with someone labeling me a troll, just because I have threatened to present ideas that will thwart his/her belief.

Ninety seven percent of all scientists accept evolution; one doesn't need to be a biologist when they can simply accept the findings of the vast majority of them. You can hardly say "you're not a biologist, therefore you're wrong about evolution" when most actual biologists have the same position.

The other thing is that most of us here actually... know what evolution is? We've examined the evidence for it and can discuss it at length, safe in the knowledge that the same evidence that leads us to accept evolution does the same for every major biologist working today, so it can't be that our laymen's interpretation is leading us astray.

So far you've presented nothing more than bland assertions that evolution isn't true, a position that those in the know do not accept, and one borne of a worldview well stocked with lies, misrepresentations and simple dismissal. We really have heard it all from your side; if you think you're capable of presenting something new then you're entirely welcome to do so assuming you follow the rules of the forum, but don't think we're going to expect anything more than the same tired old platitudes and lies until you do actually present it.

Christian theology, like all theology, is not evidence based in any way. It's essentially just making things up, within the confines of a certain set of religious books. Of course, since science entered the scene theology has become a mad dash to spin these scriptural fantasies into things that align with the evidence of the real world, but it, in itself, is not evidence based.

It's just ad hoc rationalization given an officious coat of paint.

May I ask why you felt the need to start posting here before you had something substantive to say? Why would you expect that your simple assertions would carry any weight before you support them? Why not just stay silent until the meat of what you had to say was ready?

Oh, you misunderstand. It's not dissent in general that raises that kind of reaction- in fact if you look around you can see more than a few christians here who didn't get that response at all, putting the lie to this accusation immediately. I'd suggest checking out Jacob(smooth) for an idea of what I'm talking about- it's the way you specifically conducted yourself. The baseless assertions made without content, the weird preachy way you talked to Stimbo, the fact that you took his avatar to really be him when it's obviously a movie screenshot... it just read as someone who isn't on the level.

Maybe you're lacking context on this, but we've had this sort of stuff happen before; either an atheist will pretend to be a christian to get a rise from us with intentionally bad arguments, or a bona fide christian will come here and "troll" us by refusing to engage in any more than the wild assertions you started off by making. If you're intending to progress to something meatier than please do so, but your lack of familiarity with the pitfalls of the online atheist community does not excuse the crazy accusations you've made at us here.

First of all, we're well aware that there are real christians out there. Actually, we're probably more aware of that than you are; you don't ever see an atheist pulling the "no true christian" argument against any denomination out there. We know that christianity comes in many flavors, and though a lot of your kind dismiss any but their own outright, we're willing to engage them all on their own level.

Second of all, "beat us at our own games"? All you did was make a random, unsupported assertion that evolution isn't a hoax, before promising to fill in the gaps later. How is that beating anyone, at anything?

To be honest, I haven't got much to add to Esquilax's response but here's my tuppence-worth.

I don't have degrees but I'm qualified to A-level (pre-degree level in the UK). Additionally I've made more detailed amateur studies of many aspects of biology including evolution. While that doesn't give me the right to practice biology in the public sphere, as a professional qualification would, it does inform me of many facts and allow me to participate, meaningfully, in public discourse. Given your comments so-far, I'm fairly convinced that you've not done the same. I was simply looking for you to provide some evidence that our conversation will be meaningful.

I used to be a Roman Catholic. I'm also qualified in Comparative Theology to A-level. Trust me, I'm qualified.
