Prayer request

RE: Prayer request
What if the batteries miraculously appear but they're in backwards? I would actually expect that considering how God seems to fuck up all of his plans.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

RE: Prayer request
I'll take forward, backward or upside down.
But thanks for the bump (particularly as this is technically a dead thread.)

No batteries.....yet.

I am beginning to think those praying aren't trying hard enough.
After all, what else could it be?
So how, exactly, does God know that She's NOT a brain in a vat? Huh

RE: Prayer request
Instead of debating us all the time, theists could just pray for God to get off his ass and send us something to convince us. And being God, he should know what would convince us. Either the theists haven't tried this, or... it doesn't work.

RE: Prayer request
But, what if God does not agree with the batteries? What if he thinks it is better if you would walk to the store and get the batteries yourself?
You know, God knows what is best for you, and sometimes that means he won't answer your prayers.

But don't worry, it is still a sign from God that he loves you and cares for you deeply. One day you will understand why he did not give the batteries.

God does mention batteries in the bible!

All you have to do is keep reading, and you'll eventually get to a "b". Draw a ring around this. Keep reading, and then you'll eventually get to an "a". Draw a ring around this...

I would watch the camera. A guy in a Jesus T-shirt may sneak up to put in the batteries. You know... doing god's work.

I'm probably not in very good standing with THE LORD, but I am willing to pray to any cartoon character you want and I'm willing to bet the result will be exactly the same.

Good enough. I'm willing to consider it a miracle if the guy can break into the house, find the camera and put the batteries in.

OK, give it a shot. I was and am a real fan of Calvin & Hobbes. A Calvinist you might say.
No bet though, I have the same expectation.

Be it resolved: That I ask for fervent prayer by a faithful theist that batteries
shall miraculously appear in the camera found in the displayed photograph
below.

I'm compiling records on the number and circumstances where
these prayers have been requested so I'm also asking for notification from
theists who are submitting applicable prayers. The list is private to avoid
embarrassing participants. So far I've had promises of prayer, but no miracles.

The camera is in the view of a home security camera to dissuade tricksters
near and dear to me. No cancer or broken legs need be prayed for but if
you think God will hear you better if you piggyback this request onto
something more nebulous or serious, go for it. I'll be leaving the
experimental apparatus in place for the forseeable future or until the
requested miracle occurs. When that happens, I'll post the details here.
Rationalizations as to why the requested prayers are inappropriate,
tasteless or why God isn't interested are also welcome for their
amusement value.

Sometimes, prayer is just a way to comfort one's self. I'm not following religion anymore, but don't consider myself an atheist, either. After some searching, I think Deism resonates with me, perhaps I resonate in Deism. IDK. But, I remember praying as a Christian, and if no 'answers' came, I'd justify it by saying...well that in and of itself must be God's answer. Big Grin

But, there'll never be proof of a god/deity, it's just something that manifests itself in the heart and mind of a 'believer.' I think that believers need to accept that instead of trying to prove to atheists that a god exists.

RE: Prayer request
They need to stop trying to prove to us God exists in case they succeed and it's the wrong one.

Ever think of that huh? :p
