It is your right to redefine the meaning of any word you wish to suit yourself. After all,Christians have been doing it with the Bible for about 2000 years, often with complete passages.. Buddhists are atheists too, yet my worldview and that of a buddhist are markedly different, so there is clearly something wrong with the criteria you use to determine what a worldview is.

Is how you see the world determined by the god or gods that you do or don't believe in?
Just so you know, not all buddhists are atheists. At least not in every sense of the word.
I define world view as "fundamental cognitive orientation of an individual or society encompassing natural philosophy, fundamental existential and normative postulates or themes, values, emotions, and ethics" - wiki
You may consider your own atheism as a view you have on the world. I don't because, by my definition, because their not claiming a positive truth about something. They're postulating that others are wrong about a truth claim. They may be a system of checks and balances for crazies, but I wouldn't consider it a world view. I'm not an atheist though so I'm flexible.
"There ought to be a term that would designate those who actually follow the teachings of Jesus, since the word 'Christian' has been largely divorced from those teachings, and so polluted by fundamentalists that it has come to connote their polar opposite: intolerance, vindictive hatred, and bigotry." -- Philip Stater, Huffington Post

I don't see "my" atheism as a world view.
atheism isn't a worldview - it's a disbelief in God. You can be an atheist and think:
Fairies exist Angels exist People are/aren't deserving of equal rights Evolution is garbage Science is ridiculous Morality is objective or any other belief, other than one involving a deity. If atheism is a worldview, so is not believing in santa claus and mickey mouse.
world·view (wûrldvy)
n. In both senses also called Weltanschauung. 1. The overall perspective from which one sees and interprets the world. 2. A collection of beliefs about life and the universe held by an individual or a group. This taken from the Freedictionary.com http://www.thefreedictionary.com/worldview And I maintain that atheism IS a worldview, certainly a fundamental part of your worldviews. Otherwise why are you all devoting so much time and effort to it? If religion is a worldview then atheism( as an opposing belief system) has to be as well.
