Why does someone use words like "I'll be damned" at all?
Are we being influenced to use our words against ourselves?

Why is the name of Jesus used as an adjective?
Isn't it interesting that nobody uses the name of Mohammed or his god like that.
Commandment #2, I think, was- you shall not take the name of the Lord in a useless way.
Why is it the only name of a deity taken vainly is Jesus Christ?

To me, it is really good to ask Why, now, when it comes to God we do not have to "Follow the money" to find out "Why"
but with men's activity, follow the money is as accurate as Genesis one.

I was well aware of the religious connotations of "I'll be damned" when I used it while parodying a religious person refusing to accept the conspiracy of gravity. I think, in an everyday sense, it's meant to emphasis confidence in a statement. "I'm so sure of what I say, that if I am wrong, let the worst fate possible become of me."

Jesus Christ being used as a swear (cuss, curse, whatever) started as the expression of so much frustration that you called upon Jesus to help you out. "Help me Jesus!", then just "Jesus", then "Jesus Fucking Dog Asshole Christ". We came by it honestly, really.

Oh, and you gotta be kidding yourself if you think religion doesn't leave a heaping money trail wherever it goes.

The American government supports religious faith. Take your own advice, dipshit, and stop believing religious/spiritual nonsense.

Probably the Earth.

That's so below the standard for rational inquiry that I probably shouldn't have even replied.

Chuck, that was really good.
I had to give a thumbs up on your post above.

I never saw Jessie Ventura's show (don't watch much TV) but I like anyone who has the audacity to question the leadership.
Oh, Tonus, I walked away from my Catholic indoctrination forever.
