10 best things about being an atheist on Christmas
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/12/10-be...christmas/

Quote:By now, most people who aren’t avid Bill O’Reilly fans know that the “war on Christmas” is nothing but the paranoid fantasy of conservatives and that most (though not all!) atheists and other assorted non-believers are perfectly happy with the continuing existence of Christmas. Sure, we may say “happy holidays,” to reflect the fact that this is an entire season with multiple holidays in it. We may object to using the holiday as an excuse to push overtly religious songs and prayers on kids in public schools. But the Christmas holiday, despite its religious origins, is accepted by most atheists as a secular holiday and many of us enjoy it as much as the Christians do.

For me it's not having to go to church at midnight, freezing my ass off and being bored rigid at the same time.

No prayers before eating. If you don't know what a boon this is try fighting to get the best pieces of duck from 30 people. I want some of that duck!

No midnight mass.

Not feeling guilty for drinking and fighting. It's not a proper Irish holiday until one fistfight breaks out.

Even when I was something like a christian, this did never happen. I only learned about prayer before eating by watching some old American movies. As a child, me and my family even were once invited to a dinner with a catholic bishop and they didn't even pray before tugging in.

Enjoying the holiday with my wife and loved ones with no thoughts of Christmas being for any other purpose. The reason for the season is them, not the fictional bastard child of god and his virgin conception partner.
