Mostly we talk about how we hate god and love sin. Amirite?

People like you of course. That's flip, but to a certain extent I mean it. Religion is: pervasive; contradictory (hint not even all Christians agree let alone all theists); loud; often self righteous; often legally privileged, in some parts of the world tax funded; and in many cases dangerous or even deadly (think suicide bombers and crusades). And atheists do have to deal with all of you: Christian, Islam, Jewish, Mormon, Hindu, etc. We have to work, raise children, and just generally live with you all. We probably have theist family members who are bothered by atheism. So yes we have things to talk about, and also a need for a safe place to let our hair down. This is such a place. What this is not is a place for you to proselytize. We aren't here so that you can address a bunch of heathens at once with the message of Christ. Got it? Because we've already heard it, and unless you have actual evidence of god (never happened yet), I don't want to hear it. And yes, many of us know the Bible better than you do.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god. If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.
Obviously the point of this forum today is to ban Jesuslover socks.
Never a bad thing.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

I've managed four, but I couldn't get the door closed.

Silly, everyone knows you chop up the babies first. Then add the tender bits to a stew.

Food processors, microwaves . . . what's with all of this newfangled garbage? I cook babies the way my grandmother taught me -- in a pressure cooker. It takes only minutes, and the children come out so tender the meat just falls off the bone. Perfect for the busy atheist who can't spend hours preparing a tasty dinner.
Of course, nothing can beat a good old fashioned fire and spit. |
