America assumed a recognizable form and shape around 140 million years ago, as it achieved freedom and independence from Britain, and Europe and North Africa for that matter, in the opening of the North Atlanic. Since then many things have happened in it and to it, but it is still easily recognizable. Many more things will happen to it and in it, including relocation of coastal california to Alaska, and god willing, texas will rift away along the Rio Grande riftzone. but it will very likely remain instantly recognizable in overall shape for at least another 200 million years, when it either plow into siberia, japan and China in that order, or reverse its motion away from Europe and plow back into Europe and Africa. Then it would more or less end as it would cease to be recognizable in form or shape, and become subsumed into some larger entity, some new world order, if you will.

So chill, America is not ending any time soon.

I wonder how much of the OP refers to things that are happening now, or things that have always happened but are being reported more frequently now. The former would be a sign that things are going downhill fast, the latter might be the point at which we start to do something about it as a society.

Certainly there's elements of both, however, last month, so much happened in plain sight on CSpan that you simply can't make people hear about it. As soon as you start listing details (like I did here) folks just act like grade schoolers, mocking when they should be checking. That's how it happened, really.

I've already narrowed it down to Dec 2014 and given you a list, but I'll specify late Dec (heck, the final week and a half, there), and a more concise (but even less complete, for it) list:
- federal budget (YouTube has a search tool... Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, Democracy Now, et al covered it in great detail...)
- TPP, TPIP, et al <-- these are the things coming soon, only so much is known, Bernie Sanders is trying to hold this fort almost solo in the face of presidential secrecy and typical Ways and Means Committee doublespeak and chicanery
- the Intelligence Authorization Act of 2015
- the CIA Torture Report
- the NSA "Christmas Surprise" release
- Supreme Court rules cops who are completely wrong, are still in the right:

- And somewhere out there, is the one I can't find which codifies the cop's right to murder anyone he's afraid of, carte blanche. But I have spent my ability to pretend you are giving a crap.

Maybe you should just lighten up a bit. Most of us come here for entertainment, which includes discussing serious things, but we need a little comic relief for threads as depressing as this one.
