Yeah.... i mean happiness is so much better than carrying around a burden that really highly likely doesn't exist.

It is, in my opinion, a prime example of the very worst religion has to offer.

Even more worrying is how it has beaten down its adherents so much that many of them accept:

People still have a fair and free choice, even though one option is unthinkably bad punishment.

They deserve to go there, just for being human, if they don't suck up to the guy sending them there.

That infinite punishment, with no hope of redemption, is a fair response to a finite crime.

Little children lying awake at night petrified about going to hell is part of good parenting.

The guy dishing out all this misery and blackmail via immortal soul hostage taking is good, and loves them. And doesn't want to do the things he is doing.

As Marilyn Manson would argue, Christianity's war on the devil has always been a war against humanity's natural instincts, such as sex, love for each other, and everything that makes us human. Their idea of heaven is just their way of creating a hell on earth.

I don't know if all Christians are like that, but at least some of them are.

I agree, and it's utterly disgusting. It's a really cheap trick. They focus on the things that everyone will think about and want to do, and make them feel bad for it, that they are sinning just for thinking about it. Then you can swoop in and offer love and support, after breaking their spirit with lies. What a sick system.

As my man Don Baker puts it, religion breaks your leg then sells you a crutch.

I'm not broken, I don't need saving from anything. Especially from the threats of imaginary creatures. And I won't feel bad for having completely natural thoughts and urges.
