Check out the Klezmatics on YouTube if you're curious. Klezmer pre-dates American Jazz, and was a strong influence on the music of Benny Goodman, Dave Brubeck, and other musicians in the 40s and 50s.

I did youtube the klezmer stuff. Then I happened upon this. I thought it was pretty cool, slow intro, then it gets hoppin. It is such a strange combination. It makes me think "gypsy/ska" lol
