I do care, and I have considered other points of view. But, yeah, I think that I'm right and you/they are wrong. The results speak for themselves. If you don't make changes, things aren't likely to change. I would hate to see you go on like this for another ten years.

Enable you is more like it.

Because we have something you totally lack, perhaps?
I have exactly what you want - a deep relationship with a woman. Been married 24 years. I have no need for support from people on the internet. I get support from real people.

If you'd actually read the post that you tildered, you'd actually have read that I have attempted those changes.  I actually have, at no point thus far, stated that I've never tried any of those suggestions.  As I said in that post, I have.  And what the results were.  And why they either failed or have no present effect on the situation.  That is why you have what I want, and why I don't have that; because the answer is not as simple as you think it is.  I don't quite know what you mean by "real people," as I am pretty sure the people who have responded are flesh-and-blood human beings, but it is both online and offline equally that I have support from others.  They do not enable me.  If you had read the post, you would understand why that is the case.  Maybe.  Or maybe that is too optimistic a statement to make.

Changing who I am is not a matter of thought, or perception.  It's a matter of understanding.  That is why I said that no matter what people say, they never really understand.

It's not a one-sided affair.

I hear you say that you've tried certain things, but after seeing pictures of you dressed like a freak and hanging out on tombstones, I'm suspicious that you're greatly exaggerating your attempts.

Ya just don't get it.  I might as well be talking to one of those tombstones I was hanging out on, I guess.

They won't answer, but that's better than the sexist bullshit alpha provides.

You're pretty eloquent. Splain it to me.

As I see it:

1. You say you want out of your current situation
2. You say you see no way out of it
3. I made some relatively easy things you can try which might help you get out of it

It's not that complicated.

alpha: do this
Creed: I already did
alpha: no, you didn't

A picture's worth a thousand words.

If you guys don't care that he's headed toward being in the same miserable place ten years from now, that's your business. Having been through some of the same things myself, I hate to see it happen.

It's not that complicated.

Fixed that for you.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

Huh. You said that my suggestions were good. You just complained that I don't word it like a pussy.

Creed himself said that he's tried the things I suggested. He didn't do so because they're stupid and irrelevant.

And as we're on quality of advice - all you suggested was that he sponge off other people and put more time into himself. Wow. Brilliant.

When a 27-year-old dope smoker in a counter culture complains that he feels lost and isn't getting anywhere, it's quite logical to suggest that he abandon the counter culture and quit smoking dope. (I didn't mention the dope because I've gotten into that with him before and I know his mind is closed to the suggestion.) It's not like he's a happy, well-adjusted goth doper and I butted in with a 1950s world view.

But instead of bitching about me (you're just fueling the fire you know), why don't you make some concrete suggestions on how he can rebuild himself?
