"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

The really sad thing is that he's probably the most likable Republican candidate they have.
Let the circus begin!
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

Ok, seriously guys, dems cant sit on our asses in midterms. If you look at the tide, it is changing. We beat big money in both Obama's elections. And even Walmart is being drug like a petulant brat into paying more(even though $9 p/h isn't enough). It is up to every single dem reading this, and progressives worldwide for that matter, to raise their voices and stop global corporatism from its destructive exploitation and pollution. No, things wont change overnight but it is a eternal generational policing.
It is a call for a utopia or to end the private sector. But our species depends on all of us raising our voices every day to prevent damage to our planet and a constant push for global civility. Our species can grow up and become more stable and more civil. But it is up to us to make that push at every turn every day. Every voice counts and every voice helps. You guys got smeared in the mid-terms and right now voters couldn't care less over the left's constant harping about corporatism and big money. As of January 15, 2015 a PEW Research poll shows that Americans are more concerned over the threat of terrorism. The economy, jobs / education take the number 2 and 3 spots..... No, things wont change overnight but it is a eternal generational policing. Nothing new, but do your homework, look at the flipping over the past 30 years. I blame voter apathy on my party's part yes. We suck at midterms. But the flipping is actually as sample rates over long periods happens. My only concern is our plutocracy giving the right too much power. But the corporate monopoly by the GOP and gerrymandering gets their voters in the middle class and working poor to vote against their own self interests. I think long term that will change. Younger voters are not buying into the divisive bullshit the GOP has succeeded at in the past. And dems have proven we can beat the GOP in a presidential election TWICE. Walmart is now facing the fact they are not paying workers enough, still crumbs, but that says the more the left raises their voices the better shot we have at changing things. The GOP has succeeded for the past 30 years at controlling the narrative, the cracks are showing but it is up to the right side of history to exploit those cracks. One thing I think is important to point out to everyone, is that the GOP is starting to mimic the pay gap issue. More right wing politicians are trying to steal the left's line about the "rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer" . That is simply a bait and switch con to justify more tax breaks for the rich the rest of us have to pay for. I am dead serious to any progressive here reading this, if you see this or hear it from a right winger or libertarian, call those fuckers out, because that is smoke and mirrors to justify corporate welfare. They are not going to mimic the left just to con the public.
What's even more alarming is that these clowns usually don't talk out of their asses. There's someone writing their speeches and if that someone doesn't know their facts either it speaks volumes about the quality of the people surrounding him. Rumor has it that he even unearthed some of his brother's loony toons.
Brian, you are right we need to make our voices heard because the right wing nut jobs are stealing OUR issues. Income inequality has NEVER been mentioned as something we need to work on by the right, but because it has become "real" for so many of us, they feel they need to get in front of this issue. They won't fix it, they will just give it lip service. If Warren won't run we need to raise the issues ourselves and make the Democrat focus on progressive issues.
