Snowden's Revenge: New Mega-Spying Project Revealed

Snowden's Revenge: New Mega-Spying Project Revealed
This article brings to mind, that very chilling phrase, "We're the government and we're here to help."

The scope and insidious nature of this latest revelation is unsettling.

It seems the NSA has been able to compromise not just software, but the low-level firmware of hardware devices, including disk drives as well as the security keys used to encrypt cell phone communications.

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/20...ealed.html

The NSA engaged in espionage against a Dutch company, a NATO ally, to compromise the security used on cell phones. Awesome.

Quote:The Intercept reported in detail how the intelligence agencies hacked the emails and Facebook accounts of employees at a Dutch firm, Gemalto, that manufactures about 2 billion mobile phone SIM cards every year. By mining the employees’ communications, the agencies were able to gather information that helped them steal the “keys” used to encrypt those tiny cards, thus allowing the agencies to listen in on phone calls and read messages that users believed were kept disguised by powerful technology.

We anyone thinks the US government is a beneficent entity with your best interests at heart, is beyond me. For anyone else, this is criminal behavior.

So is it going to be a Republican or a Democrat President that welcomes Snowden home as a patriot and whistleblower?

That person would have my vote.

It is in both sides' interests to maintain the police state infrastructure, so I don't see that happening.
