Insightful English documentary threatens to undermine godless evolution 'science'

RE: Insightful English documentary threatens to undermine godless evolution 'science'
I don't think the English, Scottish, or the Irish do America accents very well either; nor yet identify them. Every time I travel England, I get identified as Canadian, which I take to mean I don't sound, Boston, Southern, Valley Girl, or Australian to them and must therefore be Canadian.

May be a northwest thing, Jen - even my Midwestern ex wife thinks I have a Canadian accent (I don't).

(Then again, my mom's side of the family emigrated to the US from Canada.)

Do you Brits cringe when we talk?
Didn't mean to get too far off topic but I'm curious.

I've become convinced that Americans can't perceive individual accents at all, just broad strokes. Since moving out here, every last one of my new family who has tried imitating my accent has come out with a British one, which sounds nothing at all like my broad Australian accent.

So I assume your erotica have to be read in a broad Aussie accent to be properly appreciated? ...that's not a whip... that's a whip!

On a related note, a lot of Texans thought I was Russian? What ze heck?

English accents are very variable, Bolton is only about 35 Miles from Liverpool and you defiantely wouldn't mistake the two. My own accent is the same as local cricketer Freddy Flintoff and I'm about 15 miles from Liverpool and Bolton.

What's funny is, despite speaking fluent Russian I can't fake a Russian accent in English. Or a Polish one. I can't do accents at all. I feel like I'm missing out on some fun Confused

There was the fuss a little while back when Peter Capaldi first emerged from the TARDIS, apparently viewers complained that they had to resort to subtitles to figure out what he was saying. Then again, everyone had to do that anyway to compensate for the god-awful music drowning out all the lines.

I don't have much trouble myself, though I might struggle initially when confronted by a new Scot. Back in my Civil Service days, my line manager, Derek, was Scottish (probably still is), and communication was fine. I do remember one of the girls having trouble with it though, or pretending to, as on one occasion after he said something she shot back with "oh, talk English man!"
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Is...is her name really "Philomena Cunk"? That sounds like the name of a nasty Harry Potter teacher.
