I despise people who pressure others to have children. Angry Who the hell do they think they are? There are way too many little life leeches running around anyway.

Stand fast, Elodie. It's YOU'RE life.

And welcome to the forum!

I have never understood why people pressure others to have children. Why would anyone want kids to be brought up by a parent that didn't want them? That is cruel to both the potential parent and child

Welcome!

Welcome Elodie!

Good that you escaped the indoctrination in the south. Been there, done that.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Welcome aboard, elodie.
Most our fellow members are atheist, but there also a few theists to spice things up a bit... Most are Christian, but Muslims also find their way in here... There's one or two more on the Buddhist side... Curiously, Hindus are very rare.

Welcome, elodie. Hello. 39 and atheist from California. Childless as well. Cannot stand the little buggers, plus I fear my parents would be breathing down my throat to "raise 'em right". Any clue for us whereabouts you're from in the big blue marble?

Welcome Elodie! Have fun in this crazy place!
"Every luxury has a deep price. Every indulgence, a cosmic cost. Each fiber of pleasure you experience causes equivalent pain somewhere else. This is the first law of emodynamics [sic]. Joy can be neither created nor destroyed. The balance of happiness is constant.

Fact: Every time you eat a bite of cake, someone gets horsewhipped.

Facter: Every time two people kiss, an orphanage collapses.

Factest: Every time a baby is born, an innocent animal is severely mocked for its physical appearance. Don't be a pleasure hog. Your every smile is a dagger. Happiness is murder.

Vote "yes" on Proposition 1321. Think of some kids. Some kids."

Thanks, everyone, for the warm welcome.

Irony is that troll who joined and got banned 2x today. That is how the person was talking to me this week.
...but I'm strong and don't put up with that crap. He chose to comment in a public forum and he got a very long, very well thought-out public response. He's a bigot, so there clearly aren't enough brain cells for him to function in this diverse world. I'd feel sorry for him if not for the mean streak he has.

I'm not sure what all I'll find here....I really wanted to find some "insomnia entertainment" for when I'm up late. I probably won't be here a lot, but a bit more randomly. Smile

from the Bible belt but wasn't religious, then catholic/faithful-but-logical, then "God" failed me, now atheist. Always fighting for who I am and what I think/feel (and what I don't believe).
