Christian "faith" vs. plain "faith"
RE: Christian "faith" vs. plain "faith"
When you lift weights, you get measurable results the more you do it. You don't do it indefinitely until suddenly one day you're the hulk. It's a ridiculous analogy.

Imagine every religion in the world saying this same thing. Believe in our religion! If you don't believe yet, you're doing it wrong!

Funny, I made that exact point and none of the theists here have had the wherewithal to address it. This A/S/K boondoggle that Mezmo is so serious about works just as well as justification for any religion, but somehow we're only supposed to apply it to the one that he already agrees with? Because he said so, I guess? Thinking

Part of the problem, if you look at the way A/S/K has been defended other times it's come up, is that part of the method is that you can't ever stop the method, or believe that the method isn't working. You just have to keep doing it, keep believing that it's working even when you have no results... or else you aren't doing it right and the theist can dismiss you out of hand.

It's so childish and simplistic, but they're actually trying to bake the requirement "exist in a reality in which A/S/K works" into the method of A/S/K.
