This makes Madison (the city I currently reside in) the ONLY CITY IN THE ENTIRE NATION that has writing specifically protecting atheists from all forms of discrimination.

Madison, FUCK YEAH!

You all jelly, ain't ya.  Big Grin

Now Madison just needs to do something about Scott walker.

You know, Imperialism isn't looking for a moral justification to rule the world like "we will civilize other people", it's just "we conquer... Because we can!".

There's no reason for any nation to not protect minorities (or disadvantaged majorities)

Oh we tried.  The push for Walker's recall originated from and found its strongest bastion in Madison.  During all the elections involving him, he found little to no support in either Madison or Milwaukee.  His support comes from the dumb-fuck hicks that comprise the rest of the state, and sad to say, despite being much more spread out than the city-types are, they nevertheless outnumber us by a sufficient extent.  Outside the city are the people who interact far less with large groups of other people affected by policy decisions; they see only the taxes they pay, and that is all they care about.  They do not understand the costs of keeping the roads and education system of far more densely-populated areas in the state up to par, even though they nevertheless receive the same services [albeit on a much smaller scale], and they are unwilling to.  In their eyes, it's all about "me me me."  I am not affected by the education system in this state but I sure as fuck feel indignant about Scotty McFuckstick cutting $300,000,000 from the budget while using state funds to build a $220,000,000 private stadium, because I understand and see how it affects others.  People in the country and surburbs care only for themselves.  "Me, me, me."  They understand the concept of the social contract about as much as most of them understand calculus, which given the test scores of the people outside the cities [while nevertheless having access to schools with fewer students per classroom and more personalized education approaches, giving them an advantage over those with more crowded classrooms and less-personalized approaches to the individual students] is probably pretty fucking low.

Only the selfishly ignorant [or is it ignorantly selfish?] voted for this fucking greasebag piece of shit douchesucking bible-thumping creationism-espousing shit-eating-grinning obnoxious fucktard of a college dropout expulsion of a cunt-decay-induced vaginal discharge subhuman Kochsucker.  They profit from their petty tax cuts, while the rest of us suffer the consequences.  And even they do, too, but in their ignorance and in their selfish drive for money that they already have plenty of [otherwise they wouldn't be able to afford those decidedly comfy, sizable, aesthetically-pleasing, and well-maintained homes in crime-free neighborhoods that they drive their high-end sedans and gas-guzzling minivans, pickup trucks, and SUVs that they universally own], they don't notice, because they don't fucking pay any god-damn attention to anything that isn't involving their motherfucking bank accounts and credit cards.

Very nice - and unanimously approved! Nice to see progress like this.

Isn't Madison home to Freedom From Religion Foundation?

That's one of the nice things about being in Pennsylvania: our two big cities are big enough that we lean a little blue, even though probably 50 of our 67 counties are red.  My home county, in fact, hasn't voted for a Democrat for president since James Buchanan (the only president from Pennsylvania).

To be fair, given how Buchanan turned out, I can see why they might be hesitant, but that's not the point...

Don't worry, my friend.  If this be the end, then so shall it be.

Oh but there is.  It's not a reasonable reason or a rational one, but there is one.

It's the same reason the stereotype of the stupid American holds so strongly in the rest of the world; the reason is "It's all about me and what I'm comfortable with and the idea of something or someone being different terrifies me to an irrational extent and I want a neighorhood, city, state, nation of bland homogenous shit that is just like me."

The reason is selfish, introverted, bigoted, ignorant, apathetic narcissism.  Because that is what America is.  That is why we let corporations walk all over us while we worship them for being "job creators" who do everything in their power to maximize their profits no matter who they run over or how many people they step all over in their drive to satiate the stockholders by focusing blindly on the next quarterly report.

We're a nation of greedy assholes, looking out for number one and saying "to hell with everyone else!  United we stand but only if we unify everyone by making everyone the exact fucking same as us!"  We're a nation of smug, self-righteous pricks and cunts who spend hours and billions watching sports games and drinking and pursuing almost nothing but self-indulgence but we won't spend a fucking hour a week paying attention to or giving a shit about the political decisions that affect not just us but hundreds of millions of others not just at home but abroad as well.  Why?  Because we just don't fucking care.  "We're the best nation in the world!  Go America!"

FUCKING SHIT I HATE THIS FUCKING COUNTRY THESE DAYS.  D8<

"So long"? it was only about 100 years... and half of those we had the spanish king as our king.

But yes, you'd like Portugal!
If we take out the politicians and the crappy bureaucracy, it's a wonderful country to live in.

I never thought I'd have a reason to say I was proud to be born in Madison.

That's true for most of Southern Europe Tongue
