Right, my mistake, don't know why I was thinking that.

If she tries to claim vacuum ENERGY belongs in the spirit realm, then at least she is mindful of the immaterial nature of both. But matter in the spirit realm?!!

Although I could be wrong Smile

Dark matter reminds me of the old, superseded concept of 'ester' or 'ether' that was said to be the medium that light travels through.

Except dark matter's mass can be measured and it's distribution can be mapped, unlike luminiferous ether whose existence was only conjectured without any support from unambiguous measurement.

My wife suddenly became quite excited, and said 'couldnt that matter be the spirit realm' and more or less dared me to prove somehow that it wasn't.
A heated discussion ensued that ended with her being less than convinced that I was right.

Help.

It's 70% Dark energy, 27% Dark matter, and 3% ordinary matter, tho' those figures are subject to change with better technology.

Secondly, Dark energy is why the universe is accelerating. And Dark matter is responsible for holding galaxies together.

Thirdly, they are no more spiritual than my penis is.

Is it hard to prove the existance of your penis?

(sorry couldnt resist)

Argument from ignorance...

Dark matter is thought to be very heavy non-luminous matter (has no electrons to emit or absorb photons so it gives off no detectable radiation). It's thought to be so massive that the LHC will need to get up to around 15TEVs to detect it, if at all.

It's also only accountable for 23% of matter.

Dark energy is the leviathan in the cosmos at approx 73% of the mass-energy density.

RE: Dark Matter and the spiritual realm
Since dark matter particles interacts very minimally with each other and with other forms of matter and energy, I think it is a safe bet that it is not amenable to self-organizing, or being organized, to form complex structures needed to support such goal directed activites as are thought to be the wont of spirits and deities.

So, no, dark matter can not be spirits or deities.

Sorry if it's obvious, I had to rub it in.

depends on what you regard as proof and whats your defintion of a soul....your made of dead matter....but somehow you can think and act on 'your own' accord....

you no diffrent to the rocks on a mountain, but you can do things they cant. if you to remove this soul...then you would be dead matter again, which is what will happen WHEN you die.

After billions of years of evolving, couldnt you evolve to live forever? or at least longer, reducing the urge for reproduction and passing on your genes.

Isnt the fact that you can think proof enough of a soul?

a souls isnt a illuminated version of you which is see through and can pass through walls....!!! your soul is what keeps you alive.....when you die, you will no longer have your soul.

we are just matter, we are elements that have come together through evolution to produce living creatures.
The 'soul' is a theoretical creation that seems to explain certain phenomenon but doesnt really, its like the egyptions inventing a heavanly charioteer bcause hey noticed the sun moved.

in theory, but were a long way from that. by the way there are some animals that are practically immortal.
