Milk?

Basically, milk is for babies, not adults. I drink 'Simply Orange' with calcium and vitamin D added. Of course, that is not to say that I do not enjoy my occasional ice cream fix. 'Tin Roof'. Mmmmmmm!
You make people miserable and there's nothing they can do about it, just like god.

I loved your answers! BTW loved the link. I guess what was mentioned is adapting to it that made sense... Like alcohol in Europeans.. When it was brought to the early states the Native Population are still adapting to it... That was probably the answer that made the most sense to me. I still will go with Almond milk just cause the thought of where real milk comes from and the treatment of those animals scares me.

Yes indeed, the dairy industry is one of the cruelest practices and the most secretive of this cruelty which is why I have nothing to do with it. Most people have absolutely no idea what goes on. It was when I found out these facts that I stopped drinking it.
Cow milk is for baby calves, not to be stolen to give to adult humans. In everything I've read about there are certainly problems, particularly to do with the digestive system. It's something people are often told to cut out when they have problems in that area. We certainly don't need it, we can get everything we need elsewhere. I've not drunk any for over 10 years now. Almond milk is great but very thick. Soy is also great.
Coconut.. is eh it tastes great but very bad in the long run.

I even had something called hemp milk recently. It was really nice! It's amazing what they can do now.

Anyone who wants to know about dairy production can avail themselves of every little snippet ever published on the subject, tour a dairy farm, or a processing plant (in fact, people -do- all these things). If, for whatever reason, someone is uncomfortable, they - like you, can make what they feel to be an ethical decision. Plenty of people do this....it just doesn't seem to secretive, or in any way sinister - to me. Plenty of people also find providers whose management practices they condone (others...such as myself in this regard..will buy milk from whoever's selling it the cheapest). It's a big tent....it can be our milk......

A tour of a dairy farm will not get you the facts. I'm well aware of the lengths they go to in order to make the whole process look happy, and that the cows even like it.
I know the truth, and almost no one I have ever told had any idea. Asking someone running a dairy farm for the truth is like asking a priest if he thinks God might not exist. You need an independent source. I won't say more, because it's a very painful subject for me. If anyone is interested in learning the truth, please PM me and I'll send you some information. I don't want to get into an argument about it so I'll leave this thread now. A better example: thinking you can get the truth with a tour of a dairy farm is like thinking you can get the truth about sweatshops by a tour of them. You see what they want you to see, I'm afraid it's naive to think otherwise. Feel free to send me a private message.

We're probably all at the level of discussion wherein no participant actually believes that there is a smiling cow making all that cheese (I don;t think that the farmers or advertisers actually want us to believe that the smiling cow exists either). I just think that your interpreting indifference (on both sides on the producer/consumer line) as subterfuge. People in sweatshops sometimes do smile....they're much more expressive and convincing than cows - to me, still...I see a sweatshop. When I tour a dairy, I see the work - I see the employees and livestock...not the tourguide.
Maybe we approached it from different points. I was already familiar with dairy operations before I ever thought to consider the ethics of it all - so I see systems and scraping shit off the stalls. Maintenance and washout on all the plumbing. Cows whose working bits are about as beat up as a boxers working bits. Low wages..........the whole thing shittified so that, essentially...people can afford milk and trust that milk will be available at the shelves.
