I listen to some opera at work, it is soothing. I like the classics like Ave Maria and shit. You want to hear some intense music, talking about metal, I always found O Fortuna by Orff to be more metal than 99% of modern metal. That song makes people riot. Greatest loud song ever, and certainly more operatic, but it is choir and there is no plot...

I just stole the brand new Deftones album last night, fucking incredible. I do more mainstream and slightly whinier stuff than the Norwegian black Satan metal you guys were posting... I am following Walls of Jericho, and Poison the Well, Lamb of God and stuff...

Isn't loud music an interesting cultural phenomenon? Some people can liten to Slayer while they have their Shreddies in the morning, and some people cannot... Very peculiar.

Thanks,
-Pip

I saw Carmina Burana performed last year by the Phoenix Symphony. Good throughout, O Fortuna was electrifying.

What ever happened to real metal acts? Ozzy Osbourne, Alice Cooper, Marilyn Manson. I like to hear the music, and the lyrics, not get attacked by some screaming orangutan while hectic riffs play in the background.

How between

AHHHHROOOOOOOOOHoooAHHHHHHH

is there a love song? Or a song in general? Kids these days . . .

Metal is about pushing the envelope. Rock music in general has to be something your parents hate, it's part of the definition. So Ozzy was crazy in the day singing about horror movies. Now you need to scream like a man getting raped over syncopated rhythms and double kick thunder. So my worry is where will it go? How can out future chitlins get music that is crazier than that? I think that the music my kids listen to will sound a lot like the noises a modem made over the phone. Beee chhhhhhhh booop chhhhhhh pppppppppp weoooooooo chhhhhhhhhhhh...

I second your sentiment...
Please give me a home where cloud buffalo roam
Where the dear and the strangers can play
Where sometimes is heard a discouraging word
But the skies are not stormy all day
