Conservatives Go Nuts! Saint Reagan Denounced!
Well...not really "denounced" as much as "mentioned."

http://www.rawstory.com/2015/05/conserva...g-in-rage/

Quote:Conservatives think Susan Sarandon blamed Reagan for homelessness — now they’re sputtering in rage

It seems to take little to drive these fuckheads over a cliff....including merely stating the obvious.

Quote:“I think that the conversation [about homelessness] changed around the Reagan era, where everything was your fault… You were blamed for not trying hard enough… Just like in the AIDS epidemic the focus went on your lifestyle as opposed to what was actually happening… There are so many people in this country that are one paycheck away of being on the street, and if they can’t couch surf long enough, they are homeless… So when you have so many people working so hard. Two jobs per family, three jobs per family… Everyone is fighting so hard. And I think – so it’s been a number of things that have happened, that have made us not want to deal with this issue [of homelessness].”

We can end homelessness today. Go pick up a homeless person and let them stay at your house until they get on their feet again.

Many have mental problems?  How are they going to get on their feet again when there is no help for what made them homeless in the first place?

It must suck so much to be a conservative in the U.S. To have the likes of Ronald Reagan as one's hero and to spend the past 25-30 years squealing like a pig every time anyone points out what a disaster his presidency was on so many fronts . . . it must be exhausting.

Ok, faux moment of compassion is over. Fuck 'em and their clay-footed political savior.

I don't understand your OP. Susan Sarandon is a very liberal person. She said that about the Regan era, and the conservatives are denouncing her, not Regan. I think you need to read the article more closely.

Right.

All she said was that the problem traces back to the "Reagan-era" and the nutters went nuts.  It takes little.

It isn't as if she said Reagan was moving pedo-priests around from one parish to another....oh, wait, that was the archbishop of Boston.

Reagan could have moved pedo-whatevers all around the country to shield them from prosecution and he would not have been criticized for it. He wouldn't set foot in a church (for fear God would burn him to a cinder apparently) and the christers of the era still loved him. Nancy consorted with an actual witch and let her run the country for a while and wasn't criticized by the christers for it either.

If God had really liked Reagan He wouldn't have erased his brain . . .
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

The rise of the religious right coincides with this shift. There is no better way to keep the downtrodden brainwashed and voting against their interests than convincing them it's God's will.

This isn't directly related to the OP, but I though it apropos to share here. I'm linking a nice summary of the actual history behind the rise of the religious right.

Quote:But the abortion myth quickly collapses under historical scrutiny. In fact, it wasn’t until 1979—a full six years after Roe—that evangelical leaders, at the behest of conservative activist Paul Weyrich, seized on abortion not for moral reasons, but as a rallying-cry to deny President Jimmy Carter a second term. Why? Because the anti-abortion crusade was more palatable than the religious right’s real motive: protecting segregated schools. So much for the new abolitionism.

The Real Origins of the Religious Right

They’ll tell you it was abortion. Sorry, the historical record’s clear: It was segregation.
