guitar players?

By guitar player... do you mean can play the guitar... or play the guitar often? If the former is what you mean... then I'm a guitar player. If the latter is what you mean... I'm hardly a guitar player.

Same could be said many musical instruments... ranging from piano to clarinet. Guitar is overall my least favorite to play because the strings gouge into my fingers and make them sore as hell :S Much prefer the painless piano

I don't stick to any one style. In the spirit of Bowie, Manson, etc. Chameleon-like artists. However, this album I'm working on is alternative-industrial-rock. My first album was ambient-instrumental.

I just meant play the guitar. I know this sounds stupid, but you can apply glue to your fingers and let it solidify so that the soreness decreases. My friend did this for a while until he built calluses (he played bass though).

I know that trick. I don't care for the feeling of glue on my fingers (nor its smell)... and largely don't play the guitar any more because of similar reasons.

Guitar stings smell like metal and oil... I have an aversion to both such smells. Not sure about nylon strings or the like, but I frankly can't stand the smell (of guitar too), feeling, or look of my fingers during and after the playing of a guitar.

I don't find it weird. Why would being weird be something you apparently don't want to do? Being weird is a good thing

Anyway, your diagnosis is likely correct, but it may ultimately be that because you like the smell of the guitar stings: you enjoy playing the guitar. Or perhaps other explanations (such as mutual development) are possible.

I play a 7 String Prestige Ibanez with LowPro trem and DiMarzio Edge 7's (the Vai pickups)

Currently have no amp (pawned for booze money) but i've been playing around with guitar Rig for a while, getting some excellent results so far.

What genre do you guys specialize in? At the moment i'm into jazz-fusion/progressive metal combinations, stuff like Exivious and Ephel Duath:

Play long enough Sae and your fingers get hardened and don't hurt anymore. I used to play guitar, drums and keyboard. Just for fun every now and then now. Programming drums isn't so bad once you add colour.
