I doubt very seriously if you talked to my close personal family and friends they'd ever tell you that I am that self centered. I am one on a planet of 7 billion so no, I do not think I am special. I won't claim I don't value myself, I do, but no, if I died right now, life would go on fine without me. RE: This former Catholic will blast Pope OP/ED

Going by my own life experience I can say I didn't need an atheist to tell me what's wrong with the Catholic church or religion in general. I came to be disgusted and unbelieving all by myself. Quote:No actually, he is not preaching to just Catholics, unfortunately lots of liberals of lots of labels, including some atheists think he is a great guy. He's a marketer trying to regain market share. He's dangerous because he understands that the old farts are hopeless causes so he is trying to con the young. But deep down, he's as much of a bullshit artist as any of the fuckers. http://www.rawstory.com/2015/04/how-pope...he-church/ Quote:Francis does not shy from mentioning the Devil, unlike his modern predecessors. In his addresses, he often warns about the devil’s temptations and educates Catholics on how to avoid them. "Devil" my ass. But you will excuse if I dare to post my own opinion on that matter also. Otherwise you should put a caveat in the thread title: only people who agree with me are allowed in. Dystopia might have a point after all.
Stop answering him, Brian is always looking for someone to argue, whether it's about ABBA, the placebo effect or how jews aren't a race

"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

OK, so the objections to Pope Francis seem to be:
-He's trying to spread Catholicism. -He's against gay marriage and homosexual acts. -He's anti-abortion, anti-birth control, and pro-religion. -He rejects some aspects of science that don't fit comfortably with his faith. -He doesn't like it when people pick on religion. Odd how the cardinals picked a Catholic to head the Catholic church. Criticizing the Pope for the points noted above is somewhat like criticizing a dog for being able to bark, or bitching that trees are made of wood. Boru
